Rathmor

Rathmor

Description

Rathmor is a fully customised first person RPG game built with the Sword Of Moonlight game editor. Rathmor started off as a small project back in 2010 which was neglected due to lack of free time. However in 2013, Rathmors development went from a trickling input of minor art assets, to a full blown project, a great deal of time has been spent making everything as it was intended. Winter 2013 / 2014 started the peak of development in Rathmor, and has continued with such development since it became a full time game project.

The game will feature a full soundtrack, over 1.5 years worth of full time 3D artwork, 24 large levels, a fully fleshed out storyline with lore and a dark isolated atmosphere inspired by the Kings Field series.

Rathmor is a game being built on the Sword of Moonlight engine by Verdite. As of July 2011, Rathmor is still in development but a lengthy demo has been released. Unlike earlier SoM games, Rathrmor utilizes near 100% original custom models and textures thus creating a unique experience even for people who are familiar with the default SoM model set.

Story

Introduction to Rathmor

The player wakes up in a cave on the dark shores of Pelmora. An old woman named Gria has been tending your wounds for some time.

Upon waking, Gria tells you that Pelmora has been cut off from the main continent for some time, and hands you the light of meera, to guide you. Gria can see the fire in you, the fire to undo the chaos brought to the land... But that is not all.

Within Gria, you sense something, an uncertainty. Does the old woman have other notions for saving your life?

Gria sends you to Calethan, a nearby sea fortress town, to find refuge and hope among its war torn people.

Equipment

From rags to lamellar plated armour, a club to a greatsword, there are lots of choices for you during your journey. Knowing how to deal with your weight limitation is key to surviving the dark wilds of Pelmora.

You'l have choices in how you wish to attack with one weapon, you can swing for cutting damage or stab for piercing damage.

Certain vendors may sell better armour and equipment later on in the course of the adventure, though some of it doesnt bear unique qualities to the items found earlier on...

Items

Valuables left by rich sailors and boat captains can be found within the darker reaches of Pelmora. Though alot of simple, usable items found naturally also will fetch a good price from needy villagers.

Keeping a supply of recovery items is also important. When you are in the wild, special plants can recover your hitpoints, and you have a choice of either drinking their sap fresh or storing it in a bottle. When such plants have dried up over a long time, they leave a solid crystallised state of sap, which can be eaten, though for less effect on recovery.

Ecology

Rathmor features a unique ecology aspect. Denizens of Pelmora roam in their own territories, and certain monsters only appear at night. Creatures that live in certain areas have learned how to blend in and defend theirselves based on their surroundings, and their appearance is evidence of that.

Alot of lore can be learned from NPCs about the creatures in Rathmor.

Release date

Rathmor should be released between July 16th to July 31st.
